How is your work made?
All work is thrown on the pottery wheel. Pieces that are not symmetrical are thrown and altered by additive or subtractive methods.
Is your work hi-fire or low-fire ceramics?
Many types of temperatures, kilns, and process are used in Jeff’s work. Most of the colorful work is fired at lower temperatures as to not burn out the colorant in the glaze.
Can I use the work for cooking?
Most glazes used are food safe, but certain colors are not recommended for food consumption. All ceramics should be microwave safe, but depending on the type of clay certain pieces are not suitable for oven usage.
I want to order a commissioned piece, but I’m not sure what I want…
Original pieces can be discussed and made according to requests. If a spot has been picked for a vessel I can use shapes and colors in the room and combine them in such a way as to find a sense of harmony within the space. I can do all the designing for you.
Sounds fun, but I know nothing about clay…
